The Kirkwood Community College Recreation Centre is designed to meet the sporting and wellness needs of employees, students, and the local community of Iowa. Having been poorly exposed and under-used, our challenge was to assist the architect in creating a space that controlled and made the most of the area’s abundance of natural daylight.
Our solution was Solera. It turned out to be the ideal glass solution because natural daylight is spread throughout the entire room completely removing the shadows on the playing fields.
Due to the natural daylight in the sports centre, less lighting was required, saving thousands of dollars per year on electricity. In addition, the good insulating performance of Solera resulted in reduced heating and cooling costs.
